Common Questions

Immigration questions, answered plainly

How long will my application take?

It depends on the route, where you apply from and the Home Office's current processing times, which change regularly. Some routes offer priority services for an additional Home Office fee. When we assess your case we'll tell you what's realistic for your particular application — and we'll never promise a timescale the Home Office hasn't published.

My application was refused — what should I do?

First, don't panic, but do act quickly: the deadlines for challenging a refusal are strict. The right response depends on your route — some refusals carry a right of appeal, some can be challenged by administrative review, and sometimes the best option is a stronger fresh application. Send us the refusal letter and we'll tell you which applies and whether a challenge is worth making.

What documents will I need?

Every route has its own requirements, but most applications need proof of identity and immigration history, plus evidence specific to your case — relationship documents for partner visas, financial evidence, English language certificates or residence records for settlement and citizenship. We give you a tailored checklist at the start and check every document before anything is submitted.

What's the difference between Home Office fees and your legal fees?

They're separate. Home Office application fees — and, for many routes, the immigration health surcharge — are set by the government and paid to the Home Office directly. Our legal fees cover the advice, preparation and representation we provide. We work on fixed fees where possible, and we'll tell you the cost before we start, so you always know both figures upfront.
